iHeartRadio eliminated a number of local radio positions Tuesday as part of a nationwide corporate restructuring.

According to social media posts, among those losing their jobs in Iowa City were “Boston” Mike Ryan from 100.7 The Fox and Jerry Lalor and Mark Pitz at AM800 KXIC. In Cedar Rapids, cuts included Jim Doyne, Frank Balvanz and Waldo Knight at AM600 WMT, and Jordan Henry at Hot 95.7.

According to the Quad City Times, among the cuts in the Quad Cities were longtime WOC AM 1420 host Jim Fisher, Todd Alan from KISS 101.3 FM, Ron Evans from Mix 96, and behind-the-scenes employee Aaron Thompson.

Most of the on-air staff at KXNO in Des Moines was also cut.

iHeart announced Tuesday it was modernizing the company as it enters the new decade, leveraging its half a billion dollars of investments in technology, including investments in Artificial Intelligence (AI), to support a new organizational structure for its Markets Group. The company also said it is using technology and AI to lessen repetitive and rote work for its employees, freeing them for more value-added contributions from programming to sales.
