A Rockford Illinois man has been taken into custody after officers allegedly had to use chemical spray to detain him.

Arrest reports indicate that 26-year-old Teyvious Montgomery came into contact with authorities just after 11pm Thursday at an apartment in the 400 block of South Linn Street. He reportedly didn’t listen to verbal commands to stop and talk with the officers on scene. He continued the behavior until police attempted to detain him.

That’s when Montgomery allegedly began to pull away from officers and continued to ignore commands to stop. Even after officers used a chemical spray to attempt to subdue Montgomery, he allegedly continued to resist, until officers were finally able to handcuff him.

Montgomery refused to identify himself before and after arrest, but officers reportedly were able to identify him from a search of past service calls, where they found jail booking photos.

Montgomery has been charged with harassment of a public official and interference with official acts causing bodily injury. If convicted on both counts, he could be sentenced to up to 13 months in jail.
