A fight in front of a downtown Iowa City pizzeria has led to a pair of arrests.

Iowa City Police on foot patrol noticed 20-year-old Edgar Nunez of South Gilbert Street and 19-year-old Hampton Minniefield of Lee’s Summit, Missouri engaged in a fist fight in front of Mesa Pizza on East Washington Street just after 12:45am Saturday. Officers say Nunez refused to stop and had to be exposed to OC spray. He then allegedly fled before being caught by assisting officers.

A search of both Nunez and Minniefield’s persons turned up fake ID’s. Both men are charged with Public Intoxication, Disorderly Conduct and Possession of a Fictitious ID, with Nunez facing an additional charge of Interference with Official Acts. Minniefield faces a maximum of 14 months in jail, if convicted on all counts, while Nunez faces up to 15 months behind bars.
