University of Iowa basketball player Cordell Pemsl has been arrested after police say they caught him driving while revoked.

Arrest reports indicate that Pemsl was driving his vehicle near South Riverside Drive and Highway 1 just after 1am Monday when an officer noticed a broken taillight cover causing a white light to come through.

A traffic stop was initiated and Pemsl, who provided an Iowa ID card, allegedly advised that he didn’t have a driver’s license. A check of his records showed his driving privilege in the state as revoked due to test failure on a reported OWI from September 20th of 2019. Court records indicate that Pemsl pleaded guilty in that incident and was given a deferred judgement, probation and a fine on October 4th.

The 22-year-old was taken into custody and charged with Driving while License Denied or Revoked, a serious misdemeanor punishable by a maximum sentence of 1 year in jail.
