A year after the University of Iowa instituted a crackdown on fraternities and their use of alcohol, a house on deferred suspension was visited by police three times in one week for loud partying noises.

The Press-Citizen reports that the Phi Delta Theta House on North Dubuque Street was put on deferred suspension in December 2018 by the UI. At the same time, they suspended four fraternities from campus and placed another six on probation.

Police charged the “house dad” at Phi Delta Theta on January 31st with Disorderly House, a simple misdemeanor. The police report says that house residents had been warned by officers at least two times by officers in the week leading up to the incident.

The responding officer reported hearing loud music from outside the house while walking up to the door and indicated that it was clear a party was going on. Officers knocked on the door for a period of time without an answer.

The paper reports that University officials have not yet responded to their questions on if they are aware of the charges and whether they would affect the status of the fraternity.
