Being found asleep in his running car has led to an Iowa City man being charged with his third OWI.

According to police, they found 36-year-old Jules Alexie of Cross Park Avenue asleep at the wheel of a Buick in the Midwest One Bank lot at 10:22am Tuesday. He was woken up by authorities and allegedly showed signs of impairment such as slurred speech, bloodshot watery eyes, and constricted pupils.

After reportedly failing field testing, Alexie allegedly admitted using methadone and cocaine earlier. He also reportedly stated he used “some benzos.”

Alexie was taken into custody and charged with Operating While Intoxicated third offense, a Class D felony punishable by a prison sentence of up to five years if convicted.
