A Coralville man wanted for failing to appear at two separate arraignments was arrested Saturday morning after an alleged theft of ammunition at Coral Ridge Mall.

According to police, 23-year-old Brandon Gilliams of 5th Street was seen in the guns and ammo section of Scheels at approximately 9:40am. He’s accused of selecting a box of bullets valued at $19.99 and exiting the store with the box in the palm of his hand.

Gilliams was located by officers and under Miranda questioning allegedly admitted to stealing the bullets. The ammo was reportedly found among his belongings.

A check of court records shows that Gilliams failed to appear for arraignment on 4th degree Criminal Mischief charges in January of 2018 and a Domestic Abuse Assault charge in December of that year. A warrant was issued for his arrest on February 12th of last year.

Gilliams was charged with 5th degree theft for Saturday’s incident. With the warranted charges, he could be sentenced to over four years in prison if convicted.
