The City of Cedar Rapids Solid Waste and Recycling Division has adjusted some of their collection procedures, and is asking the public to assist them.
With many people spending extra time at home, it’s understandable that there’s a lot of early spring cleaning going on, but they’re urging residents to hold off on tossing your excess stuff.
Solid Waste Superintendent Mark Jones is asking that residents dispose of only “absolutely necessary garbage” and hold on to extra spring cleaning and bulky items until regular collection resumes.
On the recycling side, the city is limiting collections to just what fits in your CURBY cart, and suspending glass collection.
The measures have been implemented to reduce the risk of worker exposure to coronavirus.
