The Whirlpool production plant at Middle Amana was due to be back online Sunday night, but after additional positive COVID-19 cases were discovered among its employees, they have extended the closure.
The location in Amana was closed last week after an employee tested positive for COVID-19. The person hadn’t been at the facility since March 17th, but did report close contact with one other employee, who was then sent home.
The plant closed to determine who else may have come in close contact with both employees and and to do a deep cleaning. The company said that employees would continue to be paid.
The plant is set to be open again April 5th.
