A worker at P&G’s Iowa City plant was sent home two weeks ago after they reported contact with a person infected with COVID-19.
The Cedar Rapids Gazette reports that emails sent to employees indicate that the worker tested positive two days later, on March 21st, and they sent eleven other workers home to self-quarantine for 14 days who had contact with the employee in the two days before the employee was sent home.
At least three employees at P&G’s analytical lab showed at least one COVID-19 symptom and were sent home between March 25 and Monday, while a fourth developed at least one symptom after working at the lab Sunday.
The Gazette also reports that P&G spokeswoman Erica Noble said in an email that the facility remains fully operational, but started taking temperatures and screening employees as they arrived on site starting March 23rd. The company also started issuing two masks per day to employees who, due to their duties at the plant, are unable to maintain social distancing.
P&G reportedly has enough masks to continue the practice through the end of the month.
