An incident involving two Coralville men early Monday morning in North Liberty has led to additional charges announced on one of the suspects.
KCJJ reported earlier this week that 19-year-old Keith Brown was accused of going to a woman’s residence on Sugar Creek Lane, displaying a stolen firearm with a large capacity magazine and demanding to be let in or he would kill her. Brown was charged with first degree harassment, intimidation with a dangerous weapon, interference with official acts, and third degree theft.
The other man allegedly involved in the incident was 19-year-old Travion Gathright of 10th Street. He was originally charged with fraudulent purchase of firearms after allegedly admitting under Miranda that he purchased a firearm involved in the incident illegally from a private party.
Police have announced additional charges for Gathright. He allegedly also ran when police were called and when located, he led police to where he stashed items belonging to him, where they found several baggies of a green leafy substance that Gathright reportedly admitted was his. He was charged with possession and interference with official acts. If convicted on all three charges, Gathright could be sentenced to over six years in prison.
