Anheuser-Busch has finally made good on its promise to donate nearly $1 million to the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital.

Last September the beer giant promised to match donations raised by former Iowa State University student Carson King. King raised his share of the money after holding a homemade sign on ESPN Gameday asking for beer money to be sent to his Venmo account. Gameday was broadcasting live from Ames on September 14th before the Iowa/Iowa State football game. King decided to turn it into a fundraiser for the hospital, and got matching donations from Venmo and Anheuser-Busch.

Venmo donated its portion of the nearly $3 million in October.

Anheuser-Busch came under fire last February after it was revealed that it had not yet donated the $920,111 it had promised. Records show the company finally made the donation in March.

The money will go towards easing the financial burden of patient families, Child Life services, investing in new technology, transportation services, development and education, and equipment needs.
