Cedar Rapids Police are investigating a suspicious death.
According to a news release, just before 10am Friday the CRPD received a request to conduct a welfare check of the occupant of 508 B Avenue NW when it was reported that the individual could not be reached. An officer arrived at the residence a short time later and could see through a window that the victim was laying on the floor inside the home. The officer made entry and determined that the victim was deceased.
Investigators and a representative of the Linn County Medical Examiner’s Office subsequently arrived on scene. The circumstances of the death are considered suspicious.
The name of the adult male victim is being withheld pending notification of family members. His body will be transported to the Iowa Office of the State Medical Examiner in Ankeny for an autopsy.
