Two arrested after shots fired incident Thursday afternoon in CR

Cedar Rapids police have arrested two suspects in reference to a shots fired incident Thursday afternoon.

In a release from Public Safety Communications Coordinator Greg Buelow, the Police Department received a report of shots fired at 2135 North Towne Court NE at 5:51 p.m.

Officers were provided a description of two males that reportedly ran into an apartment unit at the address.  The two reportedly had handguns and had fired gunshot rounds.

Arriving officers found shell casings outside the building, but no damage.

Officers went to the unit in the building and found two men who matched the descriptions provided. They were taken into custody and a search warrant was secured for the apartment.  Two firearms were located.

23-year-old Sedric Johnson Junior and 25-year-old Kendall Willis, both of Chicago, were arrested and charged with Reckless Use of a Firearm, Carrying Weapons, and Felon in Possession of a Firearm.

One of the handguns recovered was determined to have been stolen.
