CR Police arrest suspect in Saturday shots fired incident

Cedar Rapids police have arrested one suspect in a shots fired incident that occurred early Saturday morning.
According to a release from the city, police received a report of a disturbance in the 1500 block of 2nd Avenue Southeast just after 2:30am. While working the disturbance, which involved a large fight in the street, officers heard shots fired.
They were informed of a report of the shots fired near 15th Street and Bever Avenue Southeast. Officers found both spent and unspent shell casings, and citizens helped them locate a suspect, hiding behind a house in the 1400 block of Bever Street.
After a foot pursuit, police apprehended the suspect, and located a firearm that was later found to have been reported stolen.
The suspect has been identified as 27-year-old Nyle Brocks. He was taken to the Linn County Jail and charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm, trafficking in stolen weapons, and interference with official acts with a firearm. If convicted on all counts, Brocks could be sentenced to up to fifteen years in prison.
