An Iowa City man accused of a domestic assault in February was arrested on a warrant issued in conjunction to that incident.
Officers responded to the 1900 block of Broadway Street just before 10:30am February 20th on reports of a domestic assault. The victim spoke with police and said that while she was sleeping, her live-in boyfriend, 22-year-old Anton Jackson, got into her phone and apparently found something he didn’t like.
When she woke up, Jackson was allegedly standing over her on the bed and was stomping on her head and body. As she tried to curl up to protect herself, Jackson is accused of pulling her down to the floor and continuing the assault.
The woman was able to get away from Jackson and go to her cousin’s room to call police. Jackson left the premises once authorities were called. Officers on scene say the woman suffered a chipped tooth and had a strawberry on her arm from the assault.
When Jackson left, he allegedly took the woman’s car keys, debit cards, and cellphone. At the time, the two had been living together for the past six or so months.
A warrant was issued for Jackson’s arrest, and he was booked into the Johnson County Jail Sunday night at 11pm. He’s charged with domestic abuse assault causing injury, a serious misdemeanor punishable by a jail sentence of up to one year.
A no-contact order was requested between the two.
