The Iowa Department of Public Health is partnering with area HyVee stores to give away cloth masks to those who have not been able to obtain one to protect themselves from the coronavirus.
Each HyVee grocery and drugstore will have approximately 500 Hanes Defender cloth masks to distribute on a first-come, first-served basis starting at 7am.
The masks were donated to HyVee by the IDPH, in partnership with Hanes Brands, the US Department of Health and Human Services, and the Centers for Disease Control.
A total of 75,000 masks will be distributed across the state.
