An Iowa City man was taken into custody Monday afternoon after allegedly using a loaded gun during a domestic dispute.
According to police, 26-year-old Kenneth Cole of Western Road was at the residence he shared with his girlfriend to move his belongings out. They then reportedly started to argue.
At one point, Cole attempted to leave the residence, but his girlfriend stood in the doorway to stop him. Police say both Cole and his girlfriend admitted that Cole then pulled a loaded firearm from his pocket and pointed it at the woman, saying “you need to move.” The woman did just that, and Cole left the residence.
Cole was arrested and charged with domestic abuse assault with the display or use of a weapon, an aggravated misdemeanor punishable by a prison sentence of up to two years if convicted.
