A job interview went awry last month, leading to the arrest of an Iowa City woman.

Iowa City Police say 21-year-old Deona Toro of the Pheasant Ridge Apartments on Bartelt Road arrived for an interview at Mass Markets on Sierra Court just before 2:45pm on May 22nd. Toro was told she needed to wait to begin the interview.

Police say that’s when Toro became enraged and demanded the interview start immediately. When the request was denied, Toro allegedly threatened to “beat” the interviewer’s “ass”.

Toro then allegedly told the interviewer that she would wait to “beat” her “ass” outside. Toro allegedly refused to leave the premises after being told to do so four separate times by numerous employees. She eventually left, but before she did so police say she spit on the floor in the direction of the interviewer.

Toro was arrested and charged with 2nd Degree Harassment. If convicted, she faces a maximum of one year in jail. A preliminary hearing is set for Friday.
