An Iowa City man was taken into custody after an alleged domestic incident with the woman he’s been in an intimate relationship for the last nine months.

According to police, officers responded to the 500 block of South Linn Street Saturday night at approximately 9:50 on reports of a male and female fighting. The caller reported that the man was not allowing the woman to leave.

Upon arrival, the woman told officers that the man, identified as 21-year-old Nathan Riley Fisher, was acting irrationally and didn’t want her to leave their residence. She alleged that Riley-Fisher pushed her around, pinned her up against the wall and held her there.

Officers noted that the woman had redness and bruising on the inside of her left arm, above the elbow. She also told police that there have been prior fights between them.

Riley-Fisher was taken into custody and charged with domestic abuse assault causing injury, a serious misdemeanor punishable by a jail sentence of up to one year if convicted. A no-contact order was requested between the two parties.
