Two airlifted to UIHC after one-car accident near Mount Pleasant

Two people were airlifted to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics after a one-vehicle accident near Mount Pleasant.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, a Toyota Camry being driven by 25-year-old Amosa Rasas of St. Louis was traveling northbound on Highway 218 just after 8:45am Friday when it left the road just north of Salem Road. The car hit a tree, overturned, and came to rest on its top in the east ditch.

Two of Rasas’ passengers, 17-year-old Thomas Quaye and 29-year-old Archie Tinyan, both also from St. Louis, were airlifted to the UIHC. Their conditions have not been released. Rasas was not injured.

The accident remains under investigation.
