The Coralville Fire Department says that a Boston Way apartment fire Friday night caused an estimated $150,000 in damages.

A release from the city indicates that firefighters were alerted to the blaze at 922 Boston Way at approximately 8:30 pm. Fire damage was isolated to the apartment where it started, but the other units in the building suffered smoke damage. It took about ten minutes for the CFD to extinguish the blaze.

Several occupants were home at the time of the incident, but all were able to get out safely. One person was asleep at the time the fire started, and the Department lauded the brave actions of one individual who yelled into the window to alert them to exit the structure.

Firefighters remained on scene until about 10:30pm.

The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time and authorities are investigating the incident. Displaced occupants are being assisted by the Red Cross.
