A Dubuque man was taken to the Johnson County Jail Monday night after an alleged assault and theft at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics involving his live-in girlfriend.

An officer was dispatched to the ER parking lot just before 9pm and was advised that 36-year-old Randolph McCollum of Jefferson Street in Dubuque stole $1300 from the woman. He also punched the woman in the face. The officer noted that McCollum’s girlfriend had a swollen upper lip, and McCollum himself had a cut on his left hand knuckles.

McCollum was charged with domestic abuse assault, third or subsequent offense, a Class D Felony, and 3rd degree Theft, an aggravated misdemeanor. If convicted on both counts, McCollum could be sentenced to a maximum of seven years in prison.
