A man accused of urinating in public in downtown Iowa City overnight faces additional charges after reportedly being uncooperative upon arrest.

Police say the incident occurred just before 2am on South Clinton Street between Iowa and Washington. 19-year-old Joseph Gergely of Frankfort Illinois was reportedly leaning against a wall and urinating in public. He allegedly had slurred confused speech, bloodshot watery eyes, smelled of consumed alcohol, and had impaired balance. He also is reported to have been wearing bar bands and admitted to taking prescription medication. He also had a fictitious ID to gain entrance to the drinking establishments.

Gergely is accused of refusing to comply with multiple police and EMPT orders, and was vulgar with them as well as hospital staff.  He refused a PBT.

Gergely has been charged with public intoxication, possession of a fictitious license, disorderly conduct using abusive epithets, and interference with official acts. If convicted on all counts, he could be sentenced to a maximum of fifteen months in jail.
