A Coralville man faces drug possession charges after allegedly found on a dark road with his shorts undone.

Police came upon 54-year-old Scott Johnson of 23rd Avenue on James Avenue near its intersection with Rohret Road in Iowa City a little after 10:30pm Wednesday night. He was sitting in a truck parked on the side of the road in pitch darkness.

Upon contact, the officer reportedly saw Johnson with his shorts undone and partially down, with several “adult massagers” next to him. There were also allegedly pornographic images on the phone seen when Johnson moved it.

The arrest report states Johnson also had a mini blow torch that is known to be used to burn hard drugs, and that Johnson was nervous and twitchy. He told police that he drove to the location to let his “truck cool down.”  He consented to a search of the vehicle, which turned up a white crystalline substance on the driver’s side floor in a baggie.

Johnson was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, a serious misdemeanor punishable by a jail sentence of up to one year if convicted.
