Coralville man allegedly leads police on high-speed chase from Iowa City to Cedar Rapids

Leading police on high-speed chase from Iowa City to Cedar Rapids has led to a Coralville man’s arrest.

According to arrest records, the Iowa State Patrol attempted to pull over a 2012 Dodge Journey Crew near westbound mile marker 245, east of the Dubuque Street exit, just after 12:45 Tuesday afternoon. The vehicle had been clocked at 101 miles per hour in a 65 mile-per-hour zone.

The trooper reported the vehicle failed to stop for lights and siren, and continued on I-80 and I-380 before finally stopping at the 1st Street West exit in downtown Cedar Rapids.

The driver, identified as 24-year-old Keonte Martin of 4th Avenue Place, is charged with Eluding at Over 25 Miles Per Hour Over the Speed Limit. If convicted, he faces a maximum of two years in prison.

Martin was also wanted for failing to appear at a 2018 arraignment on a Possession of a Controlled Substance charge.
