A North Liberty woman now faces a vehicular homicide charge after a deadly car crash last July north of Iowa City.
According to the Johnson County Sheriff’s office, 63-year-old Julie Bell of Heritage Place was operating a Utility Terrain Vehicle near Newport Road and Sugar Bottom Road when she lost control and crashed. A passenger, identified as 65-year-old Mary Kay Knight of Newport Road Northeast, died at the scene when the UTV rolled and pinned her underneath.
Arrest records now indicate Bell has been charged with Homicide By Vehicle While Operating Under the Influence. If convicted, she faces a maximum of 25 years in prison.
