North Liberty Police seek suspect in car lot theft

North Liberty Police are looking for a suspect in a vehicle theft from a local car dealership.

According to an NLPD news release, the suspect broke into Cooley Auto Sales on Sugar Creek Lane around 1am Monday, stole a pair of keys and drove off in a white 2017 Nissan Rogue that had been on the lot. The stolen vehicle was located at a nearby apartment complex on Monday afternoon. A person fitting the suspect’s description was seen around 10 p.m. on Tuesday, but he evaded police. Officers attempted to locate the suspect at the apartment complex where the vehicle was found, but with no success.

The suspect is described as a black male between 14 and 18 years of age, wearing a red hat and a gray sweatshirt.  Anyone with information is encouraged to contact North Liberty Police at (319) 626-5724.
