A wanted Chicago man has been arrested in North Liberty after a traffic stop turned up a handgun on his person.
26-year-old Khamar Anderson was a passenger in a vehicle pulled over by North Liberty Police for a traffic violation just after 12:15 Friday morning near Penn Street and Kansas Avenue. Anderson was removed from the vehicle when officers learned he had an active warrant for his arrest out of Linn County. Police say a pat-down turned up a handgun on his person, and he admitted that he did not have a permit.
Anderson has domestic abuse assault convictions out of Minnesota and several out of Cook County, Illinois. He’s charged with Carrying Weapons and Dominion or Control of a Firearm By a Domestic Abuser. If convicted on both charges, he faces a maximum of seven years in prison.
