An Iowa City man was arrested Sunday afternoon after allegedly striking another man with a large stone.
Police say the incident occurred in the common area of a residence on the 600 block of East Burlington Street just before 6pm. 40-year-old David Beatty and another man were allegedly involved in a verbal altercation. During the incident, Beatty is accused of picking up a large stone and striking the man on the forehead. The reported assault left the man with a laceration and bleeding from the wound.
Beatty was arrested and charged with Assault while Displaying a Dangerous Weapon, an aggravated misdemeanor punishable by a prison sentence of up to two years if convicted.
