The Big Ten Conference has finally released the schedule for its men’s basketball teams, and the Iowa Hawkeyes start the season with a lot of home dates.

The fifth-ranked Hawks begin the season Wednesday, hosting North Carolina Central with a 3pm tipoff. The day after Thanksgiving, Iowa hosts Southern University with a 4pm tipoff time. Both games will be televised on the Big Ten Network.

The Hawkeyes then host North Carolina on December 8th’ and Northern Illinois on the 13th. The first “road” game is the Gonzaga game on December 19th at the Sioux Falls South Dakota facility. That game tips off at 11am and will be televised nationally on CBS.

After hosting Purdue on December 22nd, they play their first true road game on Christmas Day at Minnesota. Game times, except for the first two and the Gonzaga game, will be announced at a later date.

Two other home games on the schedule are TBA; the game against Western Illinois and the Cy-Hawk Series game against Iowa State. The release from Iowa Men’s Basketball indicates that those dates are being finalized and will be announced later.

To start the season, fans will not be allowed at Carver-Hawkeye Arena due to COVID-19 concerns. Programs, posters and magnets will not be printed this season either.

Interested fans can have their cut-outs attend the game; visit hawkeyesports.com/fancutouts to purchase one to be installed in the seats. Twenty percent of the proceeds goes to the University of Iowa Dance Marathon with the rest going to the school’s student-athlete scholarship fund.
