Iowa City Police respond to shots fired near East Court Street

Iowa City Police are still looking for the suspects allegedly involved in two shots-fired incidents on Friday.

At approximately noon that day, officers responded to the 3000 block of East Court Street for multiple reports of shots being fired. While responding, additional calls came in reporting a second group of shots being fired nearby in the 400 block of South Scott Boulevard.

Responding officers on scene spoke with witnesses who reported that a dark-skinned male had exited a tan sedan and fired multiple shots. A second dark-skinned male was seen on foot with a gun in the 400 block of Scott when additional shots were fired. The tan vehicle was last seen leaving the area southbound on Scott at a high rate of speed.

Officers located shell casings and property damage corroborating the witness reports of multiple shots being fired. These two incidents are believed to be related. No injuries were reported.

The police are asking for the public’s assistance in the incidents. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact them at 319-356-5275. Additionally, those with security cameras in the area of the incidents are asked to review their surveillance footage and contact police if it contains pertinent information.
