The search committee charged with providing a job description for the next University of Iowa president met Friday to discuss feedback from students, faculty and staff.

Based on that feedback provided during listening sessions in December, the committee narrowed the job description down to a three-page document.

The Daily Iowan reports that the qualifications include a doctoral degree, significant experience in fiscal management, a commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, and experience with an academic medical center.

The committee is hoping that the next president at the university has the desire to be a collaborative voice and face for the UI across all stakeholders.

Sandy Daack-Hirsh is co-president of the search committee. She told the DI that the finalized description of the job will be posted by the middle of the month; applications or nominations should be submitted by March 15th. The committee will pick up to a dozen semifinalists, and then invite 3 or 4 for a campus visit.

The president is projected to be selected by the end of April.
