An Iowa City woman allegedly damaged her own property as police were arresting her for a domestic incident.

According to the arrest reports, officers were at the Westwinds Drive apartment of 45-year-old Ranee Daniel Thursday around 7:15pm on reports of a disturbance. Apparently, she and the victim got into an argument that turned physical when Daniel threw an object at the man, hitting him in the back. Police say Daniel screamed in their faces and failed to follow commands.

She’s then accused of pushing things off shelves and throwing them forcefully against a wall. Daniel then reportedly took a doll and smacked it on a cabinet, saying she could break her own property if she wanted to.

The head of the doll flew off and hit an officer in the eye. Once she was told she was under arrest, Daniel allegedly tried to flee by going into the bathroom. She reportedly resisted officers by pulling away and refused to put her hands behind her back.

Daniel was charged with first offense Domestic Abuse Assault Causing Injury, and Interference with Official Acts causing Bodily Injury. She could be sentenced to up to two years in jail if convicted on both counts.
