Iowa City Police have arrested a man they say was involved in a single vehicle accident on Summit Street.

Officers were called to the corner of Summit and Court Streets just before 3am Saturday for a car that had reportedly hit a pole. The driver was said to be out of the vehicle.

Investigators determined that 23-year-old Nathan Katalinich of 5th Avenue in Iowa City had lost control of his 2007 Subaru Outback and slid into a snowbank. Katalinich was found walking away from the scene. Police say he admitted to driving the vehicle.

Katalinich also allegedly admitted to consuming alcohol prior to driving, and police say he showed multiple signs of intoxication. His blood alcohol content was measured at .221 on a Datamaster. The legal limit for driving is .08.

Katalinich is charged with Operating While Intoxicated.
