An Iowa City man has been arrested after threatening a woman and her current fiancé.
Police say on December 27th, 41-year-old Manuel Treviso of Ash Street left two messages on a woman’s voicemail. In the messages, he allegedly directed statements and threats to the woman’s current fiancé, addressing him by name and telling the victim, “I will beat the s**t out of you, and “I will kill you.” He also reportedly warned the victim and the woman, saying, “You know what I’m capable of.”
Treviso also is accused of sending abusive text messages to the woman during the overnight hours of January 3rd and 4th, which is a violation of a valid no-contact order. He also allegedly sent a series of abusive and threatening texts to the woman on January 8th. On the same day, he is accused of calling the woman’s mother and was reportedly abusive and threatening.
A warrant was issued for Treviso’s arrest, and he was taken to the Johnson County Jail Sunday afternoon. He’s been charged with 1st degree Harassment, and three counts of contempt for violating the no-contact order. If convicted on all counts, he could be sentenced to up to 27 months in prison.
An additional no-contact order was requested between the parties involved.
