A Coralville man who was allegedly found behind the wheel of a stolen vehicle was arrested after fleeing police on foot.
Just before 1pm Sunday, an off-duty officer located a vehicle that matched the description of a suspicious vehicle police were on the lookout for in the area of Lynden Drive Northeast in Iowa City. Along with the suspicious vehicle was a 2013 Chevy Silverado that had been reported stolen by Coralville police.
Deputies tried to stop the vehicle, and the driver of the Silverado fled on foot. He was arrested after a brief chase, and was identified as 36-year-old Andrew Pearson of Holiday Road.
Pearson has been charged with First Degree Theft, Driving While Barred, Interference With Official Acts, and Marijuana Possession. If convicted on all counts, Pearson could be sentenced to over 13 years in prison.
