An Iowa City man with four prior domestic assault convictions years ago has been arrested again for the same offense after an alleged altercation on Sunday morning.

Officers responded to a residence on South Scott Boulevard on report of a domestic incident. Upon arrival, they spoke with a woman who was the victim of an alleged assault. She told them that she and 33-year-old Brandon Pittman of South First Avenue were arguing about money, when he started yelling and threatening to kill her.

She alleges that the incident turned physical after Pittman shut the door to the bedroom where they were arguing.

He’s accused of dragging her around the bedroom and pulling her down the stairs by her hair. She said she was able to escape while Pittman was reportedly destroying TVs, dressers, windows, and the bed. Two children were present at the time of the incident, and Pittman had fled on foot before officers arrived.

Pittman’s criminal record includes four prior domestic convictions; 2006, 2007 and two in 2014.

He was taken into custody and initially charged with Domestic Abuse Assault, 3rd or Subsequent. He could be sentenced to up to five years in prison if convicted. A no-contact order was requested between Pittman and the woman.
