Several construction projects start Monday on area streets.

One day projects include maintenance work on sanitary sewers on Grant Wood Street south of Gleason Avenue and Grant Wood Drive. Also they’ll be doing water main repairs on Bloomington Street between Dodge and Lucas streets all day today, causing lanes of traffic to be shifted. And in Cedar Rapids, southbound traffic on Edgewood Road Southwest will be down to one lane between Westdale Drive and 33rd Avenue for utility work.

Other projects starting today include East Jefferson Street, reduced to one lane of alternating traffic between Clapp Street and Parsons Avenue while work is being done on sanitary sewers. That project should be wrapped up by end of day Wednesday.

The entrance ramp to westbound Interstate 80 from Herbert Hoover Highway will be closed beginning today while crews continue work on the interchange improvement project. The project includes a new configuration of ramps with roundabouts and a new bridge over Interstate 80 at exit 249. Work will cause the ramp to be closed until June 2nd. Traffic will be able to access westbound I-80 at the South Downey Street/West Branch interchange.

And installation of the Park Road Arch Bridge pedestrian deterrents will begin today, which will cause traffic to be reduced to one lane in each direction between Dubuque Street and City Park. Bridge sidewalks will be closed on one side at a time to maintain pedestrian crossing. Construction should be completed by the end of June.
