A Coralville man wanted after skipping his trial last month has been arrested after allegedly assaulting the woman he lives with.

Police got calls about a disturbance at an apartment in the 2500 block of Holiday Road just after 4:30pm Sunday, stating that a female had screamed for someone to call 911. Upon arrival, officers came upon the woman, who was observed with scratch marks on her arms and neck. She also had a bloody lip. She stated that 23-year-old Zachary Prestridge had thrown her up against a wall.

Prestridge was in a locked bedroom and came out when told by officers. He stated that the two got into a verbal argument and it turned physical after she pushed him away. Prestridge allegedly admitted to throwing her up against a wall after pushing her away multiple times.

A check of court records showed that Prestridge was wanted for failing to appear for trial last month on Criminal Mischief and Interference with Official Acts charges stemming from an incident this past November.

Officers were dispatched to an apartment on the 900 block of Boston Way November 5th. The property owner said that he had evicted Prestridge and another unnamed individual previously and had they had been trespassed from the property, but a neighbor advised that two subjects made entry to the apartment by breaking a window.

When officers knocked at the door, they said they could feel someone leaning up against the door to keep it from opening. When they used a key provided by the property owner, the subjects immediately locked the door again. Officers had to force entry and found Prestridge inside. He had been trespassed from the property on September 18th.

Prestridge now faces Domestic Abuse Assault causing Injury for Sunday’s incident. If convicted on all counts, he could face up to 14 months in jail.
