The University of Iowa has announced the third candidate being considered to replace outgoing school president Bruce Harreld.

Wendy F. Hensel, provost and senior vice president for academic affairs at Georgia State University in Atlanta, was announced as the third candidate Sunday morning. Hensel will visit the UI campus on Monday and Tuesday to meet with faculty, staff, and students. Prior to her appointment as provost, Hensel served as dean of the Georgia State College of Law.

Hensel will participate in an open forum at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Availability of in-person tickets to the forum is very limited due to COVID-19 precautions.  Each candidate open forum will be viewable via livestream.

Hensel joins Penn State law dean Hari Osofsky and University of Illinois executive vice president Barbara Wilson as candidates for UI president. A fourth and final candidate will be announced on Wednesday.

More information on the search and the individual candidates is available at presidentialsearch.uiowa.edu. That web site can also be used to submit questions for Monday’s open forum.
