An Iowa City man has been arrested on his third Domestic Assault charge after allegedly attacking the mother of his children.
The incident occurred just after 3:30pm Tuesday on the 2200 block of Bittersweet Court. 23-year-old Authur Brown and the woman were in a verbal argument over past relationships that turned physical.
Brown is accused of putting his hands around the woman’s neck and strangling her for over 15 seconds. The woman told police that she wasn’t able to breathe during the assault and complained of pain. Brown is then accused of pulling a necklace off the woman’s neck and pulling her hair.
Brown was taken into custody and charged with Domestic Abuse Assault impeding Airflow and 3rd offense Domestic Abuse Assault. If convicted on both counts, he could face up to ten years in prison.
A no-contact order was requested by the victim.
