A Tiffin man was taken into custody after allegedly assaulting his pregnant girlfriend.

Police say the incident occurred at the State Street apartment of 29-year-old Ethan Ball Monday evening. According to the arrest report, the two got into a verbal argument about his drinking that turned physical.

Ball is accused of head-butting his girlfriend in the nose and taking her to the ground. He then allegedly grabbed her throat with his two hands as he got on top of her. She was able to get Ball off of her by biting him on the wrist and arm.

The woman, who is 23 weeks pregnant with Ball’s child, reportedly suffered scratches on her arms, leg and stomach. Visible marks were also observed on her neck by officers.

Ball was arrested and charged with Domestic Abuse Assault impeding Airflow and Domestic Abuse Assault causing Injury. If convicted, he faces up to three years in prison. A no-contact order was requested between the two and granted by Judge Jason Burns.
