University of Iowa officials are reviewing the Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) interim public health recommendations for fully vaccinated people before making changes to its own COVID-19 safety precautions.

In its Friday coronavirus update, the school says UI officials are reviewing and will share any changes to campus health and social distancing practices in an upcoming campus COVID-19 update.

The release says the university will continue to rely on guidance from the Board of Regents; the Iowa and Johnson County departments of public health (IDPH, JCPH); the Big Ten Conference; and the CDC regarding face masks, social distancing, and other health and safety measures.

Iowa City issued a news release Friday saying city staff are reviewing the new CDC guidelines and will announce any changes to its mask mandate on Wednesday. Cedar Rapids and Waterloo adjusted their mask mandates Friday, taking into account the new CDC guidelines.
