An Iowa City man has been taken into custody on a warrant stemming from a sexual abuse protection order.

Police say 28-year-old Afton Proudfit of Highway 6 East sent multiple text messages on May 31st to the victim, who is a minor. Proudfit is a defendant in a sexual abuse protection order, where the minor victim is the protected party.

According to arrest reports, Proudfit created a fake phone number and sent texts to the minor, one of which allegedly said, “I’m not going to stop until I get what I want.” The man reportedly admitted to police that he was the one contacting the victim.

A warrant was issued, and Proudfit was booked at the Johnson County Jail Wednesday afternoon. He’s been charged with violation of the no-contact order, a simple misdemeanor. He was ordered held without bond.
