The Coralville Fire Department is investigating a fire that damaged the Perkins Restaurant on First Avenue Wednesday night. The fire was primarily contained to the roof and was extinguished in about 30 minutes. The remainder of the building sustained heavy smoke and extensive water damage. Firefighters remained on the scene until approximately 3am.
The cause of the fire was determined to be accidental, but is still under investigation. The damage was estimated at around $500,000.
