A Cedar Rapids woman faces charges that she attacked a pair of employees at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics.

The alleged incident occurred just before 7pm on May 8th. UI Police say 52-year-old Shawn Barowski of North Avenue SW was brought into the Emergency Department by an Iowa County Deputy. During triage, she allegedly kicked a nurse in the thigh and spit in her face when she tried to take Barowski’s blood pressure. Barowski then allegedly kicked a guard in the stomach when he tried to intervene.

Barowski was booked into the Johnson County Jail just before 9:30 Saturday morning and charged with Assault and Assault on Persons in Certain Occupations. If convicted on both charges, she faces a maximum of 13 months in jail.
