University of Iowa Police were called to Duane Banks Field Friday night after a heated exchange between opposing fans at a state baseball tournament game.

Witnesses tell KCJJ the incident happened during the Class 4A semifinal game between Cedar Rapids Prairie and Pleasant Valley. Jeff Johnson from the Cedar Rapids Gazette tweeted that the two student sections had been involved in heated exchanges throughout the game. A Pleasant Valley fan allegedly threw an open water bottle at the Prairie student section, leading to him being escorted out of Banks Field by UI Police. Records from the Johnson County Joint Emergency Communication Center show officers were called to Banks Field just after 7:30 Friday night for suspicious activity.

Some Prairie students tweeted that they were “soaked” as a result of the water bottle incident. There is no indication if criminal charges were filed.

Pleasant Valley won the game, 4-3.
