An Iowa City resident faces criminal mischief charges after allegedly spraying graffiti on a University of Iowa building.

Police say 22-year-old Oskar Holmes of Shelter House is seen on camera exiting  the west side of the Capitol Street parking ramp on his skateboard at 10:25 am on October 12th. He allegedly was carrying large white bags from Dick Blick Art Materials.

Holmes was then reportedly seen under the new Seamon Center For Engineering building extension for several minutes. Just after 10:35, Holmes is accused of spraying the side of the building in full view of Public Safety cameras immediately to the east.

Landscape Services at the University estimated it would cost about $770 to remove the damage.

A warrant was requested for Holmes’ arrest, and it was served Friday. He faces a 3rd degree Criminal Mischief charge, punishable by a jail term of up to two years if convicted.
