A dispute over Ronald Regan and office magazines in the waiting room of an Iowa City medical clinic has led to the arrest of an Amana man.

Just before 3:45 Friday afternoon security at Mercy Iowa City reported to Iowa City Police that two subjects were involved in a physical altercation at a clinic on the third floor of the Mercy Medical Plaza on Jefferson Street. The victim told arriving officers that he and 58-year-old Mitchell McGrath of 27th Avenue had been arguing about office magazines, Ronald Reagan and current politics when McGrath grabbed him by the neck with both hands and held him. The two were separated by clinic staff.

Police say McGrath later admitted to the attack. The victim requested to press charges, but declined a no-contact order.

McGrath is charged with Assault, a Simple Misdemeanor punishable by a maximum of 30 days in jail. Arraignment is set for November 15th.
